Delivery & Installation Information for Your Farm Rainwater Harvesting Tank
We view the UK Agricultural industry as important to our day to day life, and want to treat anyone purchasing with fairness, honesty and transparency. We also understand that time is critical on a working farm. That’s why we strive for delivery which is as efficient as possible for this 25,000 litre rainwater harvesting tank.
-
Confirmation Timescale: When we receive your order we will send you an email. This confirmation email is sent within 1-3 days and should also provide any anticipated timescales for delivery date.
We will contact you directly prior to confirmation to discuss how you want us to manage it if there are any additional considerations.
- Delivery Timescales: We aim to deliver your purchase to your farm within 14 days from our order dispatch. These timescales may vary dependent on region or supply chain concerns, or on manufacturing timescales.
- Point of Delivery Requirements: We will deliver to the boundary of your farm by large delivery vehicle (such as articulated or rigid lorry). Lifting the tank and transport to the point of installation must be carried out by yourself.
- Offshore & Remote Areas: Deliveries to some UK postcodes may have additional delivery and return fees. Some areas of the UK typically considered to be more remote may require a case by case quote.
Pre-Installation Best Practice: Many customers prepare a reinforced concrete base in advance so the tank can be lifted straight into position on delivery day, saving valuable time. A clear, level route to the installation point is also ideal.
For a 25,000 litre tank it is recommended that the levelled reinforced concrete base is a minimum of 300mm (12") clearance on all sides of the tank, and a minimum of 204mm (8") thick. For multiple 25,000 litre tanks, adequate clearance space should be considered on all sides for inspection and maintenance.
The type of work carried out around the tank should also be considered (ie: vehicle movements), as impacts to the tank, particularly at low temperatures, can cause tank damage, or failure.
How Rainwater Harvesting Works with this Modular 25000 Litre Tank
The process is simple and efficient
During a rain shower on your farm, instead of letting valuable rainwater run off into ditches, drains, or cause soil erosion, this system captures and stores it for use during dry periods.
- Catchment: Rainwater collects on rooftops (barns, sheds, or farmhouses) and flows into gutters and downpipes.
- Pre-Filtration: Leaf screens or first-flush diverters remove debris and sediment before the water enters the tank.
- Storage: Cleaned water fills the MDPE tank and is stored for later use. Any remaining sediment will settle near the bottom of the tank, or in the case of pollens, may float at the top of the tank.
- Distribution: Water is drawn off between the surface and bottom section of the tank via gravity or an optional pump for use when needed. Excess water should ideally exit via overflow mechanism to avoid flooding.
If correctly designed, this closed-loop system integrates easily with your existing farm infrastructure and provides an on-demand water source when you need it most.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the manufacturer warranty?
10 years, provided the tank is correctly maintained, used and installed. With correct use conditions, these tanks can last well beyond a decade.
Thorough inspection of the tank is strongly recommended for identification of any potential transport damage during delivery, and prior to signing for the tank.
If I am building a modular system, can different tank sizes, or tank volumes be mixed?
No. If you are intending to configure multiple tanks into a larger modular system (for instance, if you are considering pairing a 25,000 litre tank with a 10,000 litre tank to build a total system volume of 35,000 litres), it is not recommended.
This is because pairing different tanks sizes cause added system difficulties such as differences in water levels across the two tanks leading to potential lost storage volume, or problems with balancing the overall system.
This can hold in a parallel configuration, or a daisy chain configuration, and remedying can add significant cost and further work.
Can these tanks be installed below ground or support mounted equipment?
No. These tanks are not suitable for mounting equipment on them, nor are they capable of below ground installation. Below ground tanks exist but must be manufactured with proper reinforcement to avoid risk of buckling.
How much rainwater can this 25,000 litre tank realistically collect each year?
Collection depends on your rooftop catchment area and local rainfall. As a guide, 1 mm of rain on 100 m² of roof yields roughly 90–100 litres after typical losses (with 90% capture efficiency).
For average UK rainfall conditions, a rooftop catchment area of approximately 120–200 m² is usually sufficient to fill and replenish this 25,000 L tank over the course of a year. Roofs significantly larger than this may benefit from an additional tank or a properly sized overflow system.
Is the black MDPE material suitable for both outdoor and indoor farm use?
Yes. The black, UV-stabilised MDPE is highly resistant to cracking, corrosion, frost, and algae growth, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor agricultural environments, with a potential lifespan exceeding 25 years.
Can the system be expanded later if my farm’s water needs grow?
Yes. The modular design makes it easy to add extra tanks with minimal disruption, giving you flexibility as your operation expands. If you do anticipate the requirement to add additional capacity at a later date, it is recommended to plan this site space requirement ahead of installation of the initial tank.
Do I need a pump with this system?
Gravity feed is energy-efficient for downhill distribution, but many installations may require submersible or external pumps for consistent pressure to irrigation systems or elevated troughs.
For more sophisticated systems, this will depend on your layout, the distance the water must travel to use, and the pressure required at the outlet. Pipe (or pump) head pressure will govern your post-tank set-up, including pump requirement.
Is the harvested water safe for livestock?
With proper pre-tank filtration, rainwater is generally suitable for livestock. For higher water quality, additional filtration or treatment can be added after rainwater capture.
This tank is not suitable for potable use for human consumption, or for various potable requirements for dairy farms. We recommend additional water quality testing prior to use, and understanding regulations for your farm if in doubt.
If a potable variant of this tank is required, please get in touch.
How difficult is installation on a working farm?
Installation is relatively straightforward, but will require you to have equipment on hand to lift or position. It can usually be completed in a few days with minimal downtime by experienced installers, or by capable crews.
Key steps include preparing a level reinforced base, positioning the tank while empty, drilling inlet and outlet pipes, and making plumbing connections.
What maintenance does the system require?
Checks every 6 months are recommended to clear any pre-filtration of leaves or debris, to avoid water fouling, outlet valves (open and closed position) for leaks, and visual inspection of tank inlets (to check all ingress points are properly sealed to pests). Also a visual tank inspection to check for bulges, deformation, discolouration and stress fractures should be considered twice a year.
Infrequent tank cleaning may be required to remove silt or debris from the bottom of the tank. If the tank does need to be cleaned, care should be taken to properly empty and ventilate to avoid asphyxiation or fume inhalation. If cleaning is required, any cleaning chemicals used should be MDPE friendly.
The durable MDPE tank itself needs very little ongoing care provided it is used for water, with no equipment mounted on top, and only lifted or positioned when empty.
Can I store liquids other than water in this tank?
Whilst this tank can also be used as a fertiliser sprayer tank for diluted liquid fertilisers it is otherwise not recommended.
This tank has been engineered with 7-8mm thick MDPE walls, for liquid with the same specific gravity as water and some chemicals (strong oxidisers like certain acids, concentrated hypochlorites, and aromatic hydrocarbons like benzene) can degrade, or weaken MDPE. Therefore, only use with water is recommended.
Incorrect use may shorten the tank’s lifespan and void the warranty.
